Which EDD Office to Visit

Finding Your Local Office

Use the official EDD office locator:

  1. Visit edd.ca.gov/Office_Locator
  2. Enter your zip code or city
  3. Confirm that Disability Insurance (DI/SDI) services are offered — not every office handles SDI claims
Not all EDD offices handle Disability Insurance claims. If you show up at an office that doesn't serve SDI, you will be turned away. Confirm before you go.

What to Check Before Going

  • Services offered — confirm the office handles DI/SDI, new and existing claims, and document submission
  • Hours — typical hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, closed state holidays; verify before you go
  • Arrive 30-60 minutes before opening — tickets are first-come, first-served; afternoons often have no tickets remaining
  • Parking — many offices have limited parking; consider public transit and plan extra time

Out-of-State Pilots

If you live outside California but are based there, you can file online, by mail, or by phone from anywhere. If you anticipate going on disability, schedule an in-person visit during a trip to California before your disability starts rather than scrambling for same-day travel after.

Appointments

Some offices offer scheduled appointments — check the EDD website or call the office directly. An appointment avoids the all-day ticket queue and is better suited to complex issues like explaining pilot variable pay.
